Lights That Illuminate
Another old poem by yours truly
Sometimes chaos remains orderly
It can come in the straightest lines
And most pronounced visions
Chaos is hidden in the ticking scale of numbers
that run endlessly on a beam of light made for itself
Yellow tape can hide chaos
and smears of red too
Chaos can be the overlapping of worlds
the collision of shapes and sounds and color
It can come in harsh black space
Or defined white lines
It can fold in on itself
Provide a door into a hidden universe
It can twist and turn and shape itself
It can hide
Chaos is hidden in the lights we think illuminate
In the truths we take as universal
Chaos lurks in the hidden things that seem orderly
In the ordinary that hides difference
Chaos betrays will and bends reality
Chaos changes perception
But chaos will sometimes forget
That those lights are meant to illuminate
And eventually
They find their way through even the darkest of blacks
